Other Foley depts. will move in when Public Works moves out
The Foley Parks and Horticulture departments on East Violet Ave. will move into facilities now occupied by the Public Works Dept. when the new PWD campus opens in January. The recreation division of the Parks and Recreation Department is moving into space in the former National Guard armory now being renovated behind Foley City Hall.
The project includes the construction of a 2,500 to 3,000-square-foot office building and the removal of fuel tanks used by Public Works and Sanitation Department vehicles.
Mayor Ralph Hellmich said the move will allow the city to expand its facilities in the area along the Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail north of Heritage Park. “Sometime next year, there will be new greenhouses and other facilities over there, which will support Beautification Committee efforts,” he said.
