Pleasure Isle Has A (relatively) New Mardi Gras Krewe
Krewe of the Island (or Krewe de l’île in it’s native French language) began in 2017 in order to promote a more community oriented krewe, where focus was not just on the festival aspect of the season, but on making a positive impact in the community. Already, the Krewe of the Island has volunteered for autism awareness in conjunction with Sassy Bass Caribbean Grill in Orange Beach, and volunteered at the Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge on June 2. Habitat for Humanity builds and other events are planned in the future. The Krewe has around 70 members and while membership is closed until next Mardi Gras, please feel free to visit the krewe on Facebook or email kreweoftheisland@gmail.com.
