Prescribed burn planned this month at Gulf State Park

A prescribed burn is planned at Gulf State Park will take place in the Eagle Loop section of the park near Lake Shelby sometime before the end of the month, weather permitting. The prescribed burn is part of a forest management plan associated with longleaf pine restoration, fuel reduction and invasive species control. The planned burn. Alabama Highway 135 (State Park Road) is already closed due to construction and will remain closed through the end of the year.
