Pudge & Skipper released at GSP pavilion

The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies, in partnership with the Alabama Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network to provide rehabilitation services for sick and injured sea turtles recently transported Pudge, a Kemp’s ridley, and Skipper, a loggerhead, to Gulf Shores for release into the Gulf in front of the Gulf Stae Park pavilion. Both turtles were accidentally caught by recreational fishermen on Gulf State Park Pier and required extensive medical care for their injuries. The fishermen made the right call and reported the turtles to Alabama Coastal Foundation.
Pudge also had a satellite transmitter attached to her shell. This device will enable IMMS researchers to track her movements throughout the northern Gulf! Regular updates on her movements will be available at imms.org.
