Registration open for O.B. resident firefighter program

The Orange Beach Fire Department will be opening a spring session of its Resident Volunteer Firefighter Program. Applications will be accepted starting in January with a tentative program start of mid-March 2022. The RVFP is designed to give young men and women an opportunity to pursue a career in Fire and Emergency Services. After successfully completing the training and receiving their Firefighter I/II certification, they will be assigned to a regular shift in the Orange Beach Fire Department, where they will serve alongside our career members working 24-hour shifts performing all the duties of a firefighter, gaining valuable experience and training to prepare you for a career with a full-time fire department. Participants can stay in the program for up to two years; a minimum one-year commitment is asked. In exchange for this commitment to the RVFP, participants are provided lodging, with all utilities paid for, additional fire service certifications, a monthly stipend and an opportunity to become a certified Ocean/Surf Lifeguard.
