Santa will “drop into” Flora-Bama Dec. 14

Santa Claus has made time in his busy schedule to “drop in” and visit local girls and boys on Saturday, December 14 at the Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar on Perdido Key. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. with children’s activities, free snacks and hot drinks. Weather permitting, Santa will parachute in at 12 p.m. Otherwise, he may arrive by fire engine. Santa will be available for pictures from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Ms. Claus, her elves and Marines will be on hand to collect non-perishable items for the Manna Food Bank and/or Toys for Tots in exchange for a free drink card.
Other Christmas festivities at the Lounge on the Line include the Christmas potluck from noon – 3 p.m. Guests encouraged to arrive early with covered dish or dessert. Flora-Bama to provide ham and turkey with all the fixins’. Folks of all ages are invited to come out and work off some of that Christmas cheer at the 32nd annual Make It To The Line 4 Mile Run and 1 Mile Fun Run at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28. With prizes 3-deep, 14-age categories, male/female in both run and walk, plenty of healthy food and a souvenir shirt, its guaranteed to be fun for the whole family. Kids under 9 are free, cost is $30 all others thru Dec. 12, plus $5 from Dec.13-24, and plus $10 after Dec. 25. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local Secret Santa program. New Year’s Eve parties include the famous Flora-Bama party and the Mullet Drop at the Flora-Bama Ole River Grill. All sorts of people in all sorts of attire will hit the beach for dip in the Gulf at the crack of noon during the Flora-Bama New Year’s Day Polar Bear Dip. A traditional feast of black eyed peas, corn bread, ham along with first draft or soda to all who survived the Gulf. Enjoy an all-day celebration of great music, and football on some 100 TVs on both sides of street. The Flora-Bama is located on Perdido Key at the Alabama-Florida line.
