SBLC offers homeschool tips, drive-thru literacy program

South Baldwin Literacy Council has taken innovative steps to continue providing its life changing services by offering home schooling coaching and drive-through literacy Programs at its location at 21441 Hwy 98 East in Foley. Drive-Through Literacy will be held March 30-31 from 1 – 3 p.m., and SBLC will be giving out a free picture book and bear to families with children. There is need to register or call ahead. All are welcome while supplies last to procure one book and bear per family. Participants are asked to please stay in their vehicles for the drive through service.
SBLC is also launching an early start to its summer book relief program, due to the cancellation of classes across Baldwin County. Go to and apply for a free summer relief support pack. Included in the pack are picture books for families to read together as well as books for children to use to build their home library.
Schools shutting down and social distancing measures has also led to a dramatic increase in the number of parents who are now home schooling their children for the first time. Give SBLC a call from 9 a.m. ‘til noon Monday through Wednesday for help with this daunting task. SBLC’s Allison Smith has 20 years experience and is available to help families navigate the process. Call her at (251-943-7323) for a phone consultation.
