Servant’s Heart: A pickleballer welcomes snowbirds

Servant’s Heart: A pickleballer welcomes snowbirds

By Tamara Pace, Orange Beach Pickleball Player
It was do us all well to reacquaint ourselves with the heart of a servant. The one our grandmother, grandfather, mother, father or any family favorite who had/has. That spirit filled life that drew you in like the firefly in darkness. The spark that flitters around you creating a sudden desire to chase or follow. Well friends, we have it here, right here on Pleasure Island. Our Pickleball community has suffice opportunities to serve. One local couple drove selflessly to Tuscaloosa to help start a Pickleball program. Another local couple serve enthusiastically for the community’s needs. They are the fore parents and Hall of Famers of Pickleball. Some of our Canadian snowbirds served as fill-ins for the Orange Beach Pickleball League pilot program, as well as teach new drills we still use today. And yet others serve as coordinators keeping the Church of Christ in Gulf Shores open 6 days a week, 6-hour days. There are too many to list. We are filled with this undeniable spirit.
Sure, we have a rough spot that we all pitch in to smooth like silk, because WE are like family. We have a place to serve each other and that my Friends makes us better Friends. So, pick a date, pick up a paddle and find that firefly who is eager to share some fun, fitness and fellowship. It is with great pleasure to serve you all with that firefly spirit.
Welcome Snowbirds.
