South Baldwin Newcomers will donate $13K in profits

By Karen Brumbelow
South Baldwin Newcomers Club held its annual Toast to the Coast fundraiser on January 23rd, 2020. With the great support we received from numerous local restaurants and bakeries, local businesses that helped promote our fundraiser, our members generously volunteering hours, and the great attendance from our community, we are honored each year to be able to donate scholarships to local high school seniors and local charities. Each year we honor these recipients at our June luncheon, but with the Corona Virus and the circumstances it has brought this year, our June luncheon will not be held.
Our SBNC President, Libby Bates along with Susan West, Special Events Chair are excited to announce we raised $26,000 this year. We are honored to award $13,000 to the following Local High School Seniors: Foley High School – Erin Meszaros and Shelly Barcelona. Gulf Shores High School – Emily Anson, Mikaela Boecher, Jackson Carey, Zachary Coeur, Malia Elliot, Braswell McMeans, Elliot Taylos. Coastal Alabama Community College – Grace Parker. We wish each one these students the absolute best in their education journey and in their future.
We are also honored to announce that $13,000 will be donated to the following local 501c3 organizations: Alabama Sheriff’s Boys Ranch, All About Dogs Coastal Rescue, Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center, Baldwin Pops Orchestra, Daybreak Respite, Ecumenical Ministries Meals on Wheels, Family Promise-Baldwin County, Gulf Coast Art Alliance, Gulf Shores High School Band Department, Klaas Kids Regional Search and Operations Center, Lighthouse of Baldwin County, Mary’s Shelter, Safe Harbor Animal Coalition and South Baldwin Literacy Council. Thank you to all these local organizations that work so hard to assist our county residents each day.
Again, a huge thank you to all who supported us in this year’s Toast To The Coast – Disco Fever themed fundraiser, we look forward to seeing everyone next year and are excited to hear what the theme will be for 2021.
