The kids at the festival are not litterbugs

Local artist JD Swiger has created a multi-media series of artwork using trash he gathered at Gulf Shores Public Beach. As much as artistic expression, JD’s goal with the series was to create additional awareness that trashing our beaches has consequences beyond the obvious. JD’s peers at the fest believe that. It’s a mostly conscientious crowd. They don’t trash the beach.
The Alabama Coastal Foundation, in partnership with ZeroHero and under the direction of Toni Thomason, also leads cleanup and recycling efforts during the fest.
Credit also goes to the steadfast City of Gulf Shores clean-up crew, and three years of the Leave Only Footprints campaign has also had a positive impact.
