Turtle nesting season will hit its peak in July

The Alabama Coastal Foundation Share the Beach program documented 48 nests and 63 false crawls along the Alabama coastline through June.
July tends to be the most active nesting month, so we expect our numbers continue to grow.
To help decrease the number of false crawls due to white flashlights, ACF is offering free local delivery of our Share the Beach flashlights in July for anyone who signs up for either an individual or family membership. ACF items are also available at joinACF.org /shorestore.
Remember these simple things to help keep the beachfront dark at night:
• Close curtains/blinds in beach facing windows.
• Turn off your exterior lights (or use sea turtle lighting).
• Only use sea turtle friendly flashlights when walking the beach.
• If you ever see a nesting sea turtle, please stay back/low/quiet and after you have enjoyed that experience please call 866-Sea-Turtle (866-732-8878) to report the location.
