Volunteers invited to help re-plant Walker Island on July 31
The Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program, the City of Orange Beach, and The Nature Conservancy in Alabama are inviting locals and visitors alike to help restore the lower Perdido Islands by planting native species that will help reduce erosion and provide shelter and foraging areas for wildlife. A volunteer planting event will be held on Thursday, July 31 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Walker Island in Perdido Pass. Pre-registration is required due to limited supplies and boat space. Register at volunteer.bloomerang.co/volunteer. Meet at the Orange Beach Wildlife Research Center. All necessary tools and transportation to and from the islands will be provided. The event is open to volunteers aged 7 and up. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent. More info: info@ppbep.org.
