“Boating is such a big part of our community, especially down here. Also, from an economic standpoint, this show traditionally has more than $20 million dollars in boat sales over the weekend so it’s a big event for people who want to come shopping and it’s a big economic driver down at the beach,” said event founder Jim Cox.
“Boat shows allow consumers to see many makes and models in a single day instead of driving from dealership to dealership,’’ he added. “And don’t think for a minute that the dealers aren’t aware of this. Dealers bring their boats to boat shows for one reason—to sell them. They know you’re shopping, and they know you’re talking with other dealers. They know they need to make the best possible deal for you because the competition is fierce.’’
