AL Poetry Society meets April 29-30 at Orange Beach Library

The public is welcome to all the events scheduled during the Alabama State Poetry Society Spring Meeting scheduled April 29-30 at Orange Beach Public Library (26267 Canal Rd.).
The schedule of events includes a 7 p.m. meet ‘n greet in a private room at Shipps Harbour Grill (27842 Canal Rd. in Orange Beach) on Friday, April 29. Delicious beverages and gourmet snacks can be ordered during the scheduled round robin reading.
The schedule on Saturday, April 30, includes a 9:15 a.m. gathering with coffee and breakfast snacks in the library. The meeting will open at 9:45 a.m. with workshops scheduled until 12:30 p.m. when the group will meet for a catered lunch in beautiful Orange Beach Waterfront Park, which is located adjacent to the library. Contest awards will be presented at 1:30 p.m. in the library.
The 10 a.m. workshop is titled ″Blossoming an Image, and Delicious Details,″ a workshop on enhancing your imagery led by Karen Garrabrant, long time organizer of Atlanta’s ″Art Amok Poetry.″
The 11:15 a.m. workshop is titled ″Performance 101 — From the Page to the Stage,″ led by National Poetry Slam Champion Amy Weaver.
The registration fee is $20 for the meetings and workshops and an additional $15 for a catered lunch. For more info, visit alabamapoets.org. You don’t need to be a member to attend.
