3 men die in fiery crash that closes Lillian Bridge for hours

A fatal head-on collision on the Hwy. 98 The Lillian Bridge resulted in three casualties and the clossure of the bridge to traffice for 13 hours on Oct. 10.
Russell Drummond of Elberta and Christian Beech of Lillian, both 19 years old, were killed in a Chevy Impala that crossed over the center line on the bridge crossing Perdido Bay and collided with an 18 wheel truck driven by Sheldon Liddell, 48, of Pensacola. All three men were pronounced dead on the scene, according to a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Dept. report. The crash occurred around 4:50 a.m.
The Impala was heading east on U.S. 98 into Florida and the truck west toward the bridge. The Impala crossed the center line into the westbound lane while on the bridge and crashed head-on into the truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck caught fire and the lumber it was hauling fell onto the road, blocking both lanes.
