O.B. Fire Dept. honors Martin & Woodward

Orange Beach Interim Fire Chief Mike Kimmerling recognized Thomas Martin and Robert Woodward during the July 9 City Council meeting for their actions during a recent house fire.
“Mayor and council this is a great honor for us tonight to present a couple of letters of commendation to two young men who made a big difference to our community,” Chief Kimmerling said. “I think anytime we can recognize people who actually make a difference that affects the lives of our citizens in our community it is a wonderful day for us and you should be thankful for their actions.”
Each commendation, signed by Chief Kimmerling, generally reads as follows:
“On behalf of the Orange Beach Fire Department, I would like to commend you for your actions by providing a quick response to assist in the notification and removal of two residents whose home was involved in a rapidly growing fire. The residents were unaware of the situation, and your quick actions to notify and then assist both residents out of the structure as conditions were deteriorating definitely led to a positive outcome for them … Your immediate response to a crisis without hesitation provided quick critical actions and showed true concern for others. Our community is fortunate to have individuals such as you who do not hesitate to help others in their time of need. Once again, thank you on behalf of the Department and the Community for your willingness to come to the aid of others.’’
