Creek War Oct. 14 Bald Genealogical Society meeting topic

The Baldwin County Genealogical Society will welcome Trippy McGuire as guest speaker for the Oct. 14 meeting at the Foley Public Library (319 E Laurel Ave.). His presentation will be on “William Weatherford – Red Eagle” The Creek War 1813-1814. Guests are welcome, but reservations are required by emailing BaldwinGenealogy@gmail.com.
Trippy will address the conflict the Creek Indian War put Weatherford in, who wanted peace with the Americans, and the honor and bravery Weatherford showed by his horse leap from the bluff into the Alabama River in Lowndes County after the Battle of Holy Ground and his later walking into the tent of General Andrew Jackson to surrender to save the lives of Creek Indian women and children.
