Battle at the Beach Pickleball Tourney draws 167 players

The First Annual Battle at the Beach Pickleball Tournament drew 167 players from all over the country to the George C Meyer Tennis Center in Gulf Shores to play men’s, women’s and mixed divisions.
“I’ve had so many compliments of how impressed everyone was with how we ran our tournament,’’ said local pickleball ambassador Eddie McDonald, who organized the event. “Everyone involved had a great experience. The facilities were great and with the help of volunteers, everything ran smooth.’’
Skill and age group level medals were awarded i and many of the participants took advantage of the social held at Tacky Jacks – Gulf Shores.
“We cannot wait until next year” McDonald said. “This was so well received. There is no telling how many participants we will have next year”.
The next local pickleball tournament is slated Feb. 12-14 at the Foley Event Center. “Many of our visitors have already stated that they will be participating in that one as well,” McDonald said.
