Coastal Pickleball Club raises $500 for CSC at tourney in Foley

The Coastal Alabama Pickleball Club recently held a fantastic 4th Annual tournament at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex. The tournament hosted over 80 teams, by far our largest tournament ever! The first day featured men’s and women’s doubles with each group playing at different ability levels. The second day featured mixed doubles and the tournament concluded with Open Play and a Pickleball Clinic by Eddie McDonald, our local Pickleball Ambassador.
All proceeds and surplus concessions for the tournament were donated to the Christian Service Center in Gulf Shores, located at 317 Dolphin Avenue. In total, $500 cash was donated to the center along with hundreds of non-perishable food items.
Many participants traveled from all over the U.S. including Canada to visit our beautiful beaches and play Pickleball. Our Southern hospitality and tempered weather created a perfect cocktail for the spirited game. Everyone was extremely impressed with the facility and expressed their hopes that we could make this event an annual one. Due to the success of this event, along with the growth of Pickleball in the area and the country, there is no doubt that our tournament participation will grow each year.
Many thanks to the City of Foley, the Mayor and City Council, and especially David Thompson and Angela Johnston with Foley Sports Tourism for providing a spectacular facility. Many thanks to all the volunteers and the CAPC Steering Committee for a Grand Job!
