Fables & Stories: Rick Carter is truly Alabama’s troubadour

It is possible that no musician has ever played more gigs at more venues across Alabama over the past 55 years than Rick Carter, and being in the first band (Telluride) ever allowed to bring a drum kit into the Flora-Bama is just one of the stories Rick might tell during his Nov. 10-13 FBISF gigs.
And what stories he has. Rick has played in touring bands since he was 14. He’s worked with Gregg Allman, Buffet, Dylan, Jimmy Hall, Jason Isbell, Widespread, Willie Nelson and ZZ Top.
He has shared his experiences of living life on the road in his first book, Fables and Stories – Tales From an Alabama Troubadour. The book is a compilation of short stories, prose, observations, lyrics, and one-liners that tells his continuing story.
His newest endeavor is leading The Alabama Troubadours in a celebration of the music of John Prine.
More than an Alabama legend, Rick is a Yellowhamer tradition – a living monument to the state’s storied music history.
