GSES earns $450K grant for after school programs

During the early summer, Gay James (Music Teacher and After School Care Coordinator), Dr. Alicia Daugherty (Assistant Principal), and Dr. Nicky Gotschall (PTO President) worked on a federal grant for Gulf Shores Elementary School.
Recently, they found out they were one of the schools in the state awarded the grant, which will allow the school’s after school care program to receive $150,000 a year for three consecutive years. The after school care program will now be able to provide a plethora of activities for students, as well as they will also be participating in service learning projects titled ‘Operation: Turtles Rock!’ and ‘When In Doubt, Don’t Throw It Out!’ which focuses on recycling.
