Jonathan Langston, Margaret Rose-Wood earn Spirit Awards

The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber recently presented its Island Spirit Award for February 2017 to Jonathan Langston with City of Orange Beach Recreation Department and its Island Spirit Award for January 2017 to Margaret Rose Wood of Spectrum Resorts. Langston was nominated for his dedication to his job and the Coastal Alabama area. The person who nominated Mr. Langston had this to say about him, “He is a visionary leader in that he recognized a community need and went to great lengths to fulfill that need. He did this by working with the Coastal Alabama Pickleball Association. Jonathan took on the task of organizing the training, ordering of supplies, court set up, and games for the Orange Beach citizens and snowbirds. He always has a smile on his face and a willingness to work hard for our community.” Rose’s dedication to her job and the Coastal Alabama area was also cited by her nominator, who said, “She is extremely guest oriented and welcomes everyone with such kindness. She is always going above and beyond for the guest by suggesting local attractions, restaurants, etc. She maintains a positive attitude throughout any situation and is always willing to assist in any area of the resort”.
The Island Spirit Award is presented monthly by the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber. It has been a tradition since the mid-1980’s. The award was designed to give special recognition to individuals who make special contributions to the quality of life we enjoy in the Coastal Alabama region. Penny Groux chairs the Island Spirit Committee. Anyone can nominate a special individual for this honor.
