National Shrimp Fest is Oct. 13-16 at Gulf Shores Beach

Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster (pictured), Tracy Lawrence and The Tip Tops will be featured musical acts during the 45th Annual National Shrimp Festival scheduled Oct. 12-16 at Gulf Shores Public Beach. As always, the more than 80 hours of musical musical acts at the fest will include Blues, Motown, Southern Rock, Jazz, Zydeco and Country.
The music begins as soon as the festival opens at 10 a.m. each day and runs through 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to 300 vendors offering fine art, arts & crafts, the fest features a retail marketplace, outdoor village, children’s activity village, sand castle contest and a 10K/5K run. The best of the best youth talent from Baldwin County will compete in the Shrimp Festival Singing for Scholarships on Saturday and local chefs will compete in a restaurant challenge. Of course, the fest will showcase shrimp cooked just about any way you can imagine. But there are plenty of non-shrimp dishes offered. For more info, visit myshrimpfest.com.
