O.B. Performing Arts Center grand opening Nov. 16

The City of Orange Beach will host a grand opening for its Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 3:30-5 p.m. The Orange Beach City Council Meeting follow at the same location at 5 p.m. In addition to facility tours, the festive grand opening will include music, refreshments and previews of the city’s Expect Excellence theater production of Visions of Christmas. The Performing Arts Center is located at 23908 Canal Rd., adjacent to the city’s high school/middle school that opened in August of 2020. For more info, email O.B. Creative Director Jessica Langston at jjlangston@orangebeachal.gov. The initial cost of the center was estimated at $8.6 million with the Baldwin County Board of Education paying $1.4 million of that cost. Additions pushed the final price close to $11 million. The 28,000-square-foot facility includes a 710-seat theater, a band room, a black box theater, a dance room and an orchestra pit. It will be used extensively for both student and community events. And it is spectacular.
