What could be more fun than touring Greece on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea exploring Greece, Turkey, Isreal and Cyprus with stops in Athens, Jerusalem, Limasso, Santori, Myknoos and Kusadasi from Sept. 10-17? How about if you could do it all while partying with fellow parrotheads led by Gulf Shores’ own Trop Rock Hall of Famer Brent Burns. Radio Trop Rock’s own Eric & Gina Babin and Bob Durand will also be entertaining fellow passengers at the aforementioned destinations. As Brent’s song goes, “If Not Now, When?” If you are a parrothead and Greece is on your bucket list, this is your chance to go on this unforgettable cruise! Prices start at $1,184. For more info, visit happygeckotrips.com or call owner Dana Flowers at 405-664-1131. Burns has previously led his friends and fans on tours of Ireland and Scotland, and Italy and a Rhine River cruise. Collaborating songwriters Gary Phillips, Jerry Diaz and Bill Whyte have joined him.
A twice wounded Vietnam vet and Purple Heart recipient, Burns scored his first hit with a song he wrote in response to the 1979 oil shortage, Cheaper Crude or No More Food, which sold 200,000 copies the first day it was released. In 2008, Burns won three awards in the first ever Trop Rock Music Gala and he has continued to collect Trop Rock awards ever since, including twice winning Best CD and Best Song in the same year. He also plays numerous benefits and donates a portion of every CD he sells to various charities.
His upcoming local gigs include Feb. 11 (early show) and Feb. 20 at Lucy Buffett’s Lulu’s, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at Big Beach Brewery and Feb. 14 & Feb. 21 at Ginmny Lane.
