Public Safe Boating Course starts Sept. 18 in P-Cola

Pensacola Sail and Power Squadron will present America’s Boating Course beginning Sept. 18 in room 3205 at Pensacola State College – Warrington Campus, located at 5555 W Highway 98 in Pensacola. The course runs for four nights – Sept. 18, 20, 25 and 27 from 6-8:30 p.m. and includes eight hours of instruction plus an exam.
Subjects covered include: Florida Boating Laws, Boat Terms, Boat Handling, Anchoring, Boat Equipment Requirements, Navigation Rules, Aids to Navigation, Adverse Conditions, VHF Radio, Trailering, and Personal Water Craft. In addition, questions will be addressed about boating in local waters. The course meets requirements for Florida Boating Safety Education ID card that is required to operate a power boat for those born after 1/1/1988.
There is no registration fee or tuition. The textbook is $40, and two students may share course materials. All participants are welcome.
