Foley to spend $1 million for additional sidewalks

Four new sidewalk projects will provide improved access to Foley High School, Mathis Elementary School, Foley Elementary School and Alabama 59. The projects will help link sidewalks around the city.
The projects are part of a program will provide $1 million to build new sidewalks around the city this year.
The Foley Elementary sidewalk would extend along North Cedar Street in front of the campus. The Foley High walkway would be built on South Pine Street near Pride Drive. The Mathis sidewalk would be constructed along South Cedar Street and join with walkways already built on Ninth Avenue to provide pedestrian access to Hickory Street. The Alabama 59 walkway would be on the east side of the highway extending south from East Verbena Avenue. That sidewalk will connect the walkway that ends at the Portabella’s restaurant and extend the route south.
Upcoming plans call for extending the sidewalk on Alabama 59 south to Azalea Avenue.
Additional projects are planned in the Mills community and throughout Foley
