Baldwin Pops, parade, snow/movie night set for Daphne

Daphne’s evening Christmas Parade will roll with festive lights up and down the Main Street route at 6:30 p.m. south along Main Street through Olde Towne Daphne on Friday, December 9.
And on Friday, December 16, Daphne will host its first ever Snow & Movie Night at Lott Park! Snow starts falling at 4 p.m., movies begin at 6 p.m., and Santa Claus will be available for photos from 5-7 p.m. For comfortable seating, bring your chairs or blankets, and get ready for holiday fun. The Baldwin Pops Band will play its third and final Christmas concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday December 13 at the Daphne Civic Center (2603 U.S. 98).
Santa is scheduled to drop in for a short visit with the children during the concert. The concert is free, however, a Toys for Tots representative from the U.S Marine Corps Reserve will be available at each concert to collect new unwrapped toys for those who wish to contribute.
The band will present favorite Christmas tunes including Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival and Christmas on Broadway, arranged by John Higgins. Older favorites include Greensleeves, arranged by Alfred Reed, and a modern fanfare, King of Kings, by Robert W. Smith, which is based on the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
Beth Hall will be featured as soloist on Antonio Vivaldi’s Piccolo Concerto in C Major. Beth is a full-time dressage music editor who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of Vermont and the University of Massachusetts.
