Collegiate Wakeboard Nationals Sept. 15-17 on Ole River
There will be some strong southern vibes in the air when college wakeboarding heads to the Alabama-Florida State Line for Sept. 15-17 USA Wakeboard’s Collegiate Nationals at the Ole River Oyster Bar, across from the famed Flora-Bama on the state line.
Competing schools include Arizona State, LSU, Michigan State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Utah and last year’s defending national champions. The University of Florida.
The 16 teams in the finals competed at five regionals around the country to get to nationals and compete for the title. Each team will consist of four men’s riders, two women’s riders, and each school’s top wakeskater. There are quarterfinal, semifinal, and finals heats of four.
All divisions are weighted the same, but we the top four college riders will earn a golden ticket of sorts to ride in the pro division with a cash prize. There are no NCAA regulations to break at this non-sanctioned championship, just old fashioned competition.
Spectators are invited to watch the event from the beach next to Flora-Bama Ole River Bar or from the Ole River Bar’s expansive deck. The kitchen and bar will be open and the entire course can be viewed from their balcony.
Heats start at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 15. and 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 16 and Sept. 17. The Women’s B final is scheduled for 3:20 a.m. and the Men’s A final at 4 p.m. on Sept. 17.
