Defrosters will play Flying Harpooon II Dec. 9-10

Andy Toth, drummer and vocalist for The Defrosters, said his band did not look at graphs, charts or tax rates before deciding to move to Gulf Shores from Anchorage, Alaska. The trio (Mike Johnson on guitar and Bob Renke on bass) didn’t check out real estate values, crime rates, schools, health care facilities or transportation options either.
“To be honest, we asked our friends while recording in Nashville what was their favorite beach,’’ Andy said. “The answer: Gulf Shores, and we made a beeline straight here.’’
Formed in Alaska back in 2005 The Defrosters will play early 6 p.m. gigs at the Flying Harpoon 2 in Orange Beach Dec. 9-10 with a blend of music that has strong Louisiana/Texas dancehall roots.
Combining Reggae, Bluegrass, Americana, the band covers afttists such as Jack Johnson, The Jackson 5, Wilson Picket, Bob Marley, Sublime, ZZ Top, Delbert McClinton, the Doobie Brothers and Otis Redding. They also play their own songs.
