Festival of Flavor slated Oct. 8 on streets of downtown Foley

Organizers expect the 2016 Festival of Flavor, scheduled Oct. 8 in downtown Foley, to be the biggest and more mouthwatering fest ever.
Held from noon to 5 p.m., the event features dozens of chefs and restaurants offering samples of their most popular fare. The festival showcases local and regional foods and craft beer from breweries throughout the Southeast. Participating restaurants include Wolf Bay Lodge, Villaggio Grille, Ginny Lane Bar & Grill, Perdido Beach Resort, Rum Sisters, Frenchie’s Cajun Café, Pinzone’s Italian Village Restaurant and Wintzell’s Oyster House. Food trucks will also offer their fare.
A limited number of tasting tickets are available for purchase online, and prices increase onsite the day of the festival. Tickets for children start at $5 for six samples with a soft drink or water. Adult tickets start at $10 for 12 tastes at any booth. Middleweight tasters can purchase 26 tastes at any booth for $20, and those with a big appetite can get 38 tastes at any booth for $30. The $65 VIP passes include 25 tastes and is good for all areas of the festival, including beer and wine. VIP ticket holders also receive three full adult beverages at the bar and entrance to a lounge area with an inflatable television for football and private restrooms. This year’s event is also a qualifier for a Golden Ticket to the World Food Championships to be held Nov. 11-13 at The Wharf in Orange Beach. In addition, the winner of the People’s Choice at the Festival of Flavor will take home more than $1,500 in cash and prizes! Anyone can enter – you don’t have to have a restaurant or work in one. Backyard cooks and moms and pops are encouraged to participate.
