Hazel’s Nook Supports Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels is an outreach program of the Christian Service Center located in Gulf Shores. The program is directed and run by volunteers who deliver more than 7200 hot meals annually to the homes of the sick, poor, elderly and disable citizens of Gulf Shores. Over the past fifteen years the owners, managers and staff of Hazel’s Nook Restaurant in Gulf Shores have provided more than 140 hot meals a week for pickup and delivery by some 35 Meals on Wheels drivers. Nestled between BB&T Bank and Walmart on State Highway 180 in Gulf Shores, Hazel’s Nook is an entirely appropriate name for this cozy, warm and inviting restaurant. Popular with local workers, retirees and snowbirds, the restaurant opened in 1957 and has earned several “People’s Choice” awards for Best Breakfast and Best Buffet in surveys conducted by local radio station Sunny 105.7.
The Christian Service Center is grateful to Hazel’s Nook for its continued community service to the Meals on Wheels program in the city of Gulf Shores. If you would like to help support this much-needed community service and have a delicious meal at the same time, visit Hazel’s Nook Restaurant in Gulf Shores. The Meals on Wheels Program simply could not provide hot meals daily to our clients without the extraordinary support of Hazel’s Nook Restaurant and our volunteer drivers.
