Ace Out Childhood Cancer Ladies Tennis April 8 at Peninsula

The 2nd Annual Ace Out Childhood Cancer Tennis Tournament will be held on Saturday April 8 at The Peninsula Racquet Club in Gulf Shores. Registration is open through April 3 in the ladies only tourney, and the $30 fee includes lunch. All proceeds from the event, which includes a silent auction, benefit the Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation, a local non-profit benefitting local families battling childhood cancer.
JHG was started by parents Melissa & Lynn Byrd after the death of their precious son, Jensen. Jensen was just over 2 years old, had just been potty trained, and went from anticipating a visit from santa to being poked like a pin cushion after being diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Jensen fought valiantly, never letting his smile fade. He suffered multiple relapses and in August of 2010, his body became consumed with the cancerous tumors.
“Through our grief, we strive to provide hope to other kids and families fighting cancer,’’ Jensen’s parents wrote on their website. “Our goal is to afford those families the opportunity to spend quality time with their kids without the stress of finances. We rely heavily on our community, our businesses, and the kind hearts of those willing to support the cause. All proceeds benefit families affected with childhood cancer as well as various pediatric cancer funds.
