Boxes for Bees, Butterflies & Bats topic of Aug. 17 seminar

Gene Sellier, a member of the Baldwin County Master Gardeners, will present “Boxes for Bees, Butterflies, and Bats” on Saturday, August 17 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Fairhope Library.
The focus will be on how to make boxes for bees, butterflies, and bats for the yard. The session will be informational and instructive for anyone looking to attract these beneficial species to their garden. His presentation is part of the educational outreach mission of the Baldwin County Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau.
Dr. Megan McCall, STEAM Coordinator at Bayside Academy, who witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime discovery as part of a recent research expedition in the Gulf of Mexico. McCall’s presentation “Journey Into Midnight: A Glimpse at the Elusive Giant Squid,” will explore how she was on board as one of the only giant squid ever seen in the Western Hemisphere, and only the second on Earth, was captured on film. The presentation will be held August 29 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Giddens Conference Center.
