GSHS freshman Beckham Smith helps assist disaster victims

Gulf Shores High School freshman Beckham Smith (above) has been volunteering her time to help the First Presbyterian Church of Gulf Shores package health kits for victims of disaster across the globe.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the organization of the National Presbyterian Church (USA), is currently responding to the needs of those who were victims of Hurricane Dorian, Missouri River Basin Flooding, 2019 spring tornadoes across our country and Cyclones Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
PDA is known for being one of the first organizations to have “boots on the ground” immediately following a catastrophe, and are committed to staying long after the initial tragedy. First Pres. of Gulf Shores has collected items for over 50 kits, as well as a monetary donation toward this latest effort. The motto of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, is “out of chaos, hope.”
