If it is not broke, don’t fix it, right? Such is the case with the May 20-22 Hangout Fest at Gulf Shores Public Beach.
The Thursday evening kick-off has been cancelled. The Boom Boom Stage will not be enclosed, and, most notably, the entire fest will go cash free. But almost all of the fest’s most popular amenities return.
So bring your credit card and join 40,000 of your best friends for sets from Post Malone, Halsey, Tame Impala, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Fall Out Boy and a DJ set from Shaq Daddy himself, NBA all-time great Shaquille O’Neil. The three time NBA Finals MVP will shake his Diesel on Sunday.
As of May 16, general admission tickets were still available for $339 plus fees. GA Plus, VIP, Big Kahuna and Super VIP tickets are no mas.
Most of the festival’s most popular amenities are back this year, including:
• Monster Energy Beach Club and Corona Beach offer swimming in the Gulf, which was not allowed during the early years of the fest.
• DJs all weekend and frozen cocktails by the Gulf are offered at Malibu Beach House.
• Experience summer camp on the beach with volleyball, slip-n-slide, kickball, smores and crafts.
• Enjoy a massage or recharge with a Hydration IV treatments or even get a new hair style.
• The roller rink has become an immensely popular place to hang and get catch disco fever.
• The views really are epic from the top of the ferris wheel.
• Get hitched at a wedding chapel officiated by bonafide comedians.
• Hang at a hammock under a canopy of palm trees.
• The Hangout’s huge art pieces are spectacular and this year will include a 30 ft. aluminum dragon head on a trailer coming into town on May 17.
• Recycle empty cans to earn coupons and exchange for awesome swag.
• According to the fest website, Jim Beam will provide complimentary samples, games, and swag all weekend to those of age. This is where, aided by free whiskey, “people embrace who they are without judgment and create carefree moments.’’
• Stop by the mobile Wiley Wallaby Experience for samples of delicious licorice.
