Perdido Beach Resort named to Inc.’s 2021 Best in Business list
List recognizes private companies that put purpose before profit

Perdido Beach Resort has been named to the Inc. magazine 2021 Best in Business list in the Travel and Hospitality category. The list, which can be found in the Winter issue of Inc. magazine (on newsstands December 14), recognizes small- and medium-size privately held American businesses that have had an outstanding influence on their communities, their industries, the environment, or society as a whole.
“Best in Business awards honor companies that have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact,’’ said Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “What began for us during the pandemic as an effort to showcase companies that were helping the community has grown into a recognition of social, environmental, and economic impact.
“The companies on this year’s list are changemakers with heart – and they’re pouring the best of their business into the people and communities around them,” he added.
Rather than relying on quantitative criteria tied to sales or funding, Inc.’s editors reviewed the recipient companies’ achievements over the past year and noted how they made a positive difference in the world. They then selected honorees in more than 49 different industries – from finance to software to engineering to fashion.
The applicant pool was extremely competitive and the acceptance rate was in the low single digits. Inc. is the world’s most trusted business-media brand, reaching more than 50 million people each month across various channels. The global recognition that comes with inclusion on the list puts recipients in an exclusive community.
Set along the Gulf of Mexico, Perdido Beach Resort offers contemporary rooms and suites with furnished balconies, an indoor and an outdoor pool, a private beach and a dock. Other amenities include a fitness center, tennis courts, two bars and free self-parking. Guests can stay in one of 344 guest rooms, and party in a 9,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space.
The gem of PBR’s four restaurants is Voyagers, where executive chef Chef Brody Olive (pictured) uses only fresh ingredients, prepared simply and beautifully so that the flavors of the food shine. His aged prime beef choices are seared at 1,800 degrees to lock in the meat’s flavor and juiciness. He serves only the highest quality, locally sourced Gulf seafood.
Chef Brody has numerous accolades, including numerous Wine Spectator and Wharf Uncorked blue ribbons. He also received the Alabama Restaurant & Hospitality Association Chef of the Year award.
He has prepared a special menu to ring in the new year at PBR. The evening features a strolling dinner, dancing, live music by The Mixed Nuts, and champagne at midnight.
