Perdido Key gets Discovery Channel exposure

Visit Pensacola paid to have Perdido Key, Pensacola and Pensacola Beach featured on an episode of “Adventure Cities,” a series on the Discovery Channel, that aired on New Year’s Eve.
Show host Jonathan Thompson also penned a story about the area’s history, lovely beaches and connection to the Navy’s Blue Angels in the England newspaper, The Times (times.com.uk).
The Perdido Key segment focuses on the Flora-Bama’s Interstate Mullet Toss.
“As I watched the show, I thought this is so cool because I live this everyday,’’ said Tammy Thurow, President/CEO of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce. “It was well done and I’m very proud to promote this secret little slice of paradise.’’

The episode mentions that the oldest European settlement in Amerca was established in Pensacola by the conquistador Tristan de Luna in 1559 and that the weather here is closer to Houston than Miami and its vibe and architecture are closer to New Orleans.
