Sea Grass Mats Can’t Stop The Bite
Sea Grass Mats Can’t Stop The Bite
A week long fishing vacation on the Gulf State Park Pier provided plenty of nice catches for John Harris from north Louisiana. While dodging rain showers and marauding sharks, John caught speckled trout, redfish, spanish mackerel and flounder. While fishing from Pelican Point Park at the mouth of Weeks Bay, Jim Myrick was ‘gifted’ this fine 16 inch flounder by Mister Bernie, one of Pelican Point’s VIPs. Rick Flanigan recently landed this ‘once in a lifetime’ (27 inch long, 14.5 inch girth) speckled trout on a double drop rig while surf fishing in front of his condo rental in Gulf Shores. You never what is going to bite next. This aerial photo by Michael Badonsky of Badonsky Buccaneers taken from east of Perdido Pass shows the sea grass mats beach fishermen have been dealing with recently.
