World Food Championships Slated Nov. 9-15 At The Wharf

Billed as the Ultimate Food Fight, the World Food Championships at The Wharf in Orange Beach is a week-long showdown pitting hundreds of cooking and culinary teams from around the world against each other in nine categories. More than 50 champions will be crowned, but only one will leave as World Food Champion and $100,000 in cash and prizes.
Competition categories are: Barbecue, Burger, Chili, Seafood, Dessert, Sandwich, Bacon, Recipe and Steak.
The WFC is free to attend, but there are numerous grazing and ticketed events for people to eat and enjoy. Tickets are available at worldfoodchampionships. com or (in most cases) at the event.
The WFC’s Tasting Village features samples from local, regional and national food brands at a price you can swallow – just $5. The Tasting Village is open Friday through Sunday from noon ‘til 6 p.m. Kids 10 and under get in free.
A tasting ticket also gains you access to Sizzle Spot where you can watch, listen, and learn from the great chefs.
Another ticketed event is the Nov. 10 (6-8 p.m.) Low Country Boil. Tickets are $20 and proceeds benefit Operation BBQ Relief. OBR will be serving up seafoodwith scrumptious sides in an all-you-can-eat affair.
A food judging class will be held on Nov. 14 from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $60, and the class offers an inside track to becoming an expert as a certified judge. The kitchen classroom experience is hosted by a certified food sport professional who takes you through proprietary E.A.T Methodology so you can be eligible to judge at any WFC event starting 2017. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, WFC will include television crews to document a reality television series, and the world’s quickest cutlery and culinary talent at the World Chef Challenge, an invitational for 21 of the most talented chefs in the world.
