Little Lagoon Preservation Society meeting is Oct. 20

Topic is “How Wastewater Management affects our daily lives”

By Karen Pera
You flush the toilet, and it all goes away, you never think about where it goes or what happens to it after the flush. Come learn about the processes applied after you flush at the next Little Lagoon Preservation Society (LLPS) member meeting on October 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Activity Center. Snacks and social mingling for the first half hour before the program kicks off at 6 p.m.
LLPS member meeting guest speakers will be retired chemical engineer Tom Eberly and retired process engineer Lloyd Moore.
Tom will give a common sense, down to the basics, explanation of how the Baldwin County Sewer Service (BCSS) Fort Morgan Plant works. He will also compare a few basic differences between the BCSS Ft. Morgan facility and other facilities such as our local Gulf Shores Utilities and Riviera Utilities in Foley.
Lloyd will give a high-level summary of problems found at the BCSS Ft. Morgan plant, and potential solutions to those problems.
A brief update will also be given on the BCSS request to increase sewage processing, oyster gardening results, and status of Little Lagoon Restoration Project.
