Pickleball Club beginners clinic Jan. 24 and Jan. 31

By Lucy Douty
With the overwhelming success of Bama Beach Pickleball Clubʼs first two beginners clinics, we will be holding two more clinics for those between the ages of 9 and 95 who would like to learn how to play the game of pickleball – the fastest growing sport in the USA. The first clinic will be held on Friday January 24 from 2 to 4:30pm, at The Church of Christ in Gulf Shores. This will be followed by a second clinic at the Church on January 31 from 2 to 4:30pm. The Church is located at 2414 West 1st Street in Gulf Shores. These clinics are for new players or for those who have played maybe once or twice. You will learn the basics of the game and we expect after two clinics, youʼll be on your way to being a regular player at the many indoor and outdoor venues in Baldwin County. Only three things are needed: 1/ call or email Sam Strite 965-5122 or samcstrite@gmail.com to reserve your spot, 2/ come to the Church wearing comfortable playing clothes and tennis shoes and 3/ bring $3 per person. We will have paddles and balls for you to use.
Pictured: Bama Beach Pickleball Club ran a beginners’ clinic at the Church of Christ in Gulf Shores. The turnout was fantastic as 39 people came to the first clinic and 44 to the second. Volunteers from Bama Beach orchestrated the clinics and covered the rules and fundamentals of play. Then, the players got their chance to step on the court and play, under the watchful eyes of experienced players. Due to the large number of people, locals as well as Snowbirds, who showed an interest in learning the game, Bama Beach plans on running addtional beginners’ clinics upon demand. The dates and times will be published soon.
